A man killed another man and ran away. Later he regretted it, and as penance, he set out to accomplish a good deed in his life. He decided to cut a tunnel through a mountain, which would enable passengers to avoid a a dangerous road over a cliff.
After working for years, the son of the dead man found him, and sought to kill him in revenge.
I am ready to die at any moment, the man said, but let me complete my work. Then you can kill me. He continued working, and after a while, the son tired of waiting and began to help digging the tunnel.
After three years the tunnel was ready. The man said, My work is done. Now you can kill me.
The son answered: How can I hurt my own teacher?
